Product Description

Product Description

This highly accessible and informative book offers practical strategies for the protection of children that all parents, teachers, and anyone involved in the life of a child will find indispensable. Providing the reader with an understanding of typical/normative sexual development in children, Christiane Sanderson enables parents and teachers to distinguish this from atypical sexual development and recognize the warning signs of sexual abuse. The more knowledgeable and comfortable teachers and parents are, the easier it is for them to understand and talk openly with children about sexual development - this book offers guidance on discussing appropriate and inappropriate touching/behaviours and the dangers of sexual abuse in an age-sensitive way. The author presents information about abusers and how to protect against their attempts to gain access to a child through grooming children, parents and other adults, including up-to-date information on the use of the Internet and mobile phones. Armed with the accurate knowledge and practical guidance on child sexual abuse provided in this book, parents, teachers, and professionals will be able to confront the threat their children may face and take practical steps to protect against it.

Excellent Book 26 April 2011
Format:Paperback
Christiane Sanderson is the expert in this area! This book is excellent and helps everyone to understand what is a particularly difficult subject. In understanding the issues, it may help to keep children safe without stopping their natural development. I wish I had read it when my children were smaller. I am a professional counsellor working in this area and have used this book myself to enhance my knowledge in order to help the victims of abuse. This book clarifies for parents etc and also dispels the myths surrounding paedophiles and child abusers. I would reccomend this to all people who have dealings with children.

Let's attempt to understand child abuse 3 Nov 2004
By S. Rouget - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
A fascinating book, written by a professional and surely a parent. Eventhough the subject is difficult, this book gives plenty of arguments why it is crucial to reflect afresh on the subject, take a positive pro-active attitude towards prevention and help for victims and abusers. Not a light read by any means, but definetly a must for anyone seriously interested in the welfare and well-being of children within the family, as well as within the community.
