5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than expected! 16 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
For years I have been trying to work on personal issues from childhood and throughout. I found out about the Sedona Method through one of the tons of newsletters in self development I have signed up for.
I have also checked their site and bought the sample pack they send with a DVD. I have to say I was skeptical at first as it seemed to simple to work. As I watched the DVD (which is one of their seminars) I did some of the exercises together with it and found some release happening. I could not afford the whole course and found out the book could also be purchased separately, and that was the best investment I have ever made towards self improvement!!

The book is very detailed, for some it would be to the point of redundancy, however the constant affirmations of different scenarios the method can be used really opens your mind to the possibilities. I'm less than half way through the book and have found extremely helpful. I can see and understand my emotions much more clearly now which is exactly what I needed in order to release them.

This book is for someone who's open minded and ready to dig deep into oneself. Simple and effective exercises you can do anywhere and achieve results.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this!!!!! 1 Nov 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a difficult book to get into, I think it could be written differently to support newbies, but once you get into it, do the work book, exercises, listen to the cds it becomes a life companion and I think it has a profound and amazingly positive effect on the way peopel live, interact and think.
If a little difficult to get into, I commend perseverence. It is an excellent tool for living an amazing life :)

Thanks Hale :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Love The Method! 23 July 2009
Format:Paperback
The Sedona Method is a great way of 'releasing' the things that are bothering us and getting rid of our attachments to them. Sometimes we don't realise our goals and dreams because we become to attached to the outcome and this is an excellent way of allowing ourselves to become more detatched. It helps us to release physical and emotional problems too.

My only quarrel with it is that Dale's not a particularly good writer. I'm not daft (really!) but he had me confused a few times about whether I was releasing the thing itself or the feeling (or want) around it. And sometimes his phrasing is a bit suspect if you know what I mean. I think this might be a little offputting to people who don't know much about personal or self-development.

That said, it's an excellent book and well worth the read. And if you actually do the exercises, who knows what you might achieve!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best techniques I ever used 20 Sep 2010
Format:Paperback
This book is amazing.I've bought a lot of books on self improvement, but i couldn't manage to finish reading any of them. I felt that there is something that gets on my way; I got so demotivated and I just gave up half way through the book. Sedona method helps to let go of resistance and helps me feel motivated. The method allows me to work on all my negative believs and feeling.I would deffinately recommend this book to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buddhism by any other name 18 Sep 2012
Format:Paperback
I doubt whether the author realises it, but this book is essentially a manual of Buddhist thought, devised by a westerner from first principles. Yes, really. Buddhism teaches that the way to happiness lies through detachment from striving and wanting, which leads only to suffering. Dwoskin essentially argues the same thing for a modern, secular audience. Wanting something sets up resistance to having it. But if you release both the wanting and the resistance, you will get whatever you really want, anyway.
As others have noted, the book is not especially well written, and it's too long and repetitive for the relatively simple procedures it describes. It's also written in the prevailing American vocabulary of success and prosperity, although the author is careful to say several times that success should not be considered just in financial terms. There's also happiness, for example. These (relatively small) criticisms aside, the book is highly useful and practical, and describes a method that does actually work, as Buddhists have known for a very long time. I'd be surprised if there's a better and more useful self-help book on the market.

1.0 out of 5 stars If only it worked! 29 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
I have read most of this book, I have endured all of the DVD on the weekend course and managed to get through a lot of the CDs. I have only found minimal shifts in 'letting go' of unwanted feelings. I have tried to welcome them and release them but they keep cooming back, they never actually go!
Hale Dwoskin has the most irritating laugh in my view so the DVD and audios of this course are really annoying.
I think that this method is a huge money making enterprise, especially as Jack Canfield is linked to it! I have discovered CBT for Dummies and I am finding real answers to my problems. You largley feel the way you think, so.....change your thinking! It works!
The Sedona method is a bit of a scam and is not at all easy to understand, if it's so simple, why does it require a thick book, an audio course of about 20 cds and a DVD of an exceptionally boring weekend. When you find you can't 'release,' you end up feeling there is really something extra wrong with you. If this really worked, wouldn't it be endorsed by health professionals all over the world?
CBT has been proven to be the most effectice therapy we currently have, do some research.
