The Downliners Sect is a great group that SHOULD have had a lot of hits but didn't. Why? Maybe because there were SO MANY great groups in the 60s. They have perservered and are still on the road dishing out great rock n roll. These 2 albums capture them at their finest.

I didn't realise this was still around and available on CD; I still have the original plastic albums and indeed remember seeing them many times at the 101 in the early 60's. Their music is very raw, early club R&B of the day - bloody brilliant to hear and were even better live - I can feel the sweat dripping on me now!!!! Buy it - it's great stuff; you won't regret it!

Rock Sect's inThe Downliners Sect were one of the first R & B bands I saw as a teenager, and were introduced to me by my Swedish penfriends, who came to stay with me in 1964. They asked me to take them to London (Studio 51) as the band were already very popular in Scandinavia, and knocked the Beatles from the No. 1 spot with "Little Egypt". They still remain my favourite band of all time, and always will be !! I'll never forget the atmosphere, down in a smoky basement in Gt. Newport Street, although alcohol wasn't available - so soft drinks were the order of the day !!! We still always had an incredible time, and travelled all over the U.K. to see them. They remain friends to this day !!
