5.0 out of 5 stars A Mother's Dream 1 Aug 2008
In an age where packet mixed cakes seem to be the norm, I was delighted to find a cook book that showed me in easy steps how to make a whole variety of cakes to suit every occasion. I look to this book for inspiration every time I host a morning or afternoon tea. Thank you to the author for providing such easy to follow and delicious recipes AGA or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Secrets of AGA CAKES by Lucy Young 31 July 2010
By Helen
I have waited so long for a dedicated AGA cake recipe book! Making do with the few cake recipes that are included in the other general AGA books, Lucy Young has excelled herself, I bought it as soon as I heard about it and have had many a happy day trying all and sundry, one of the big time favourites are "The Very Best Chocolate Brownies" on page 40,this page shows all the signs of much use, splashes of choccy all around! They really do live upto their title,Ive had lots of complements from friends who have been for afternoon tea on tasting them and the wonderful thing about Lucy's book is that friends who ask me for the recipe and dont have an AGA can still make them because she includes a Conventional oven way of making everything, wonderful, thank you Lucy Young !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent cakes will surely follow 30 Nov 2009
By Mobius
This is an all round excellent book, lots of nice colour pictures and excellent recipes for 2, 3 ,4 door ovens and also settings for normal ovens.
the Childrens cakes chapter is particularly good and my children love cooking from them. There is a wide range of cakes from 'everyday' to special occasion cakes, though neither seem to last long, giving testiomony to how good they are!
I particularly like that most seem on to freeze and tells you at what stage to freeze, ideal to stock up the freezer as well. The Secrets of Aga Cakes

5.0 out of 5 stars Helped me make gorgeous cakes! 28 July 2008
By A. Bell
I LOVED this book! I am normally hopeless with cakes and get my friends to bring desserts, but this book by Lucy Young has changed that. She makes it simple for me by explaining every step. I particularly enjoyed the 'healthy' section, and the cooking with children chapter was easy to follow with some interesting and different ideas. I don't own an aga (I wish!) but the recipes translate easily to my electric oven.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book 11 April 2012
Verified Purchase
This book was first taken out of the school library by my 12 year old daughter. Since then we have bought it as the recipes have been used so much. Great favourite with all that taste it (including all the girl guides) is the chocolate fruit tiffin - now that is really good. My daughter can make it by herself and it is done in next-to-no time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ever Recipes 14 Mar 2011
I do not own an AGA but my daughter does. Recently asked her for a recipe for Victoria Sandwich.
After reading this book and realising it also has instructions for conventional ovens, I tried a couple of the recipes. Have never been more delighted with results from baking. Perfect every time, so decided to buy two copies, one for myself and one for my daughter in law.
Absolutely wonderful, so easy but more important - Quick and perfect every time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not up to expectations 19 Dec 2012
There are some lovely recipes in this book, but I was dissapointed that it did not unravel some of the mysteries of AGA baking. I was hoping there would be guidance on using the AGA cake baker but it is only really mentioned in passing. I am left still having to do a lot of guesswork, and continue learning by trial and error.
