A wonderfully written story about Life in the East Anglian Fens after the First World War.. This book has all the emotions of the men who came through their ordeals and their women who survived the trauma of separation. Couldn't put this book down.

Lose yourself in the world of Drakesden Abbey and the lives of Thomasine, Daniel, Nicholas and Lally and I promise you, you won't come up for air until you've finished it. If you're a Judith Lennox fan, then this is a must read.

Judith Lennox writes wonderful stories which are compelling and beautifully descriptive of both characters and feelings. A treasure trove for women who like "women's" books and I'm sure they would appeal to men equally because she understands her male characters just as thoroughly. Her fabulous descriptions of the fens make me feel as though I know them, though I've never been there. Not only the fens, she takes you right into the heart of any location she describes.I look forward to picking up her books in the way you look forward to a big treat and it is very hard to put them down.
