This book doesnt so much "fill in the gaps" as creates new holes and fills them in.... The information containted in this book is second to none in all the books, thesis' and the like I have read about the subject matter. It is so well written and infromative, done in a manner, which for me, is alien to this type of text book.... absolutely brilliant. As for the comments about the price and being in paperback, yes its not cheap, but when there are so many "nuggets" and "diamond" pieces of information I wouldnt expèct it to be cheap (you get what you pay for). If I add up how much money and effort I could spend gathering together information contained in this book it becomes cheap. As for a paperback..... Call me old fashioned but some things deserve to be presented in a manner suitable for its stature. I honestly believe presented in any other way the book just wouldnt "sit right".
