This is a basic click and point/hidden object game with a simple 3D effect. The picture can be moved from side to side to reveal items behind other objects. This is just a gimmick and gets very tiresome very quickly.
The art work is okay and the scenes are quite realistic for the most part (object size, placement and orientation) and they are not too overcrowded. Some items are very well disguised and/or hidden but the hints are accurate. Precise clicking is required on some items and if it doesn't pick up immediately you will have to try a few times. Over clicking though, sends the cursor into a `wobble' for a short time.
The hints are unlimited but do take a while to recharge.
Each scene involves search by both list and silhouette. There are also games to find missing pieces to make one whole object and finding a number of similar items. Items can be obtained to interact with other aspects of the scene to progress further. It's all quite sign posted and not very challenging.
During the game Egyptian tablets are obtained and a screen automatically appears to allow the tablets to be read. The storyline detailed on them is a load of inaccurate and fanciful twaddle and, thankfully, can be skipped.
The mini games are quite standard and not challenging. They can also be skipped.
The cut scenes, which can be skipped as well, are of a normal standard and animated but only on a very basic level.
The music is generic and nothing special and the incidental sounds are not very intrusive. Neither added anything to the game play or experience.
Near the end of the game there was a section where a torch had to be lit but I was unable to get it to work. Thinking it was an error in the game I reluctantly replayed it from the very beginning only to find that the torch must be placed in the light above the staff and not in the light from the magnifying glass as one would expect. Replaying the game also showed that there was no alteration in the lists or items to find making it very quick to get through.
This is a short game and fans of Egyptology would probably enjoy it for the scenes and questionable story. For anybody else it would simply be something to do to while away a few hours and I doubt anyone would want to replay it.
