Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The Island of Struay is the home of Mairi Hedderwick's Katie Morag, a little girl who lives a life that most of us can only imagine, away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland, surrounded by a close-knit community of friends and family who take care of each other, no matter what.

This second collection of Katie Morag stories is filled with a treasure trove of delicate, lyrical storytelling and beautifully simple, old-style illustrations which carry the reader across the sea to the dream of the Isle of Struay. The Second Katie Morag Storybook is ideal for reading aloud, perfect for parent and child to read together, and a good book for children who are just starting to explore the world of literature for themselves. (Ages 5 and over)--Susan Harrison

If you haven't discovered Katie Morag yet, don't hesitate, you will love these stories about the little girl who lives above the Post office stores on a wee Scottish Isle. Katie is a bit of a Tom boy and the books are great for boys as well as girls. Although she gets into some trouble she comes good in the end, often due to the sound common sense of Granny Island, who is one of my inspiations in life and in whose kitchen I would be in heaven. It's rare to find a book written and illustrated by one person to such a high level. We loose ourselves in the beautiful pictures, theres so much to see. Each story makes quite a long bedtime tale, but believe me, you won't mind. I really wish I could read it in a scottish accent! Go on.... get it!

I love these stories and, more to the point, so does my daughter. Although she is nearly 9, she still enjoys her Dad reading them to her, so we'll carry on for now and ensure my daughter has wonderful childhood memories.

Great compilation book for any year 1 or 2 teacher, Isle of Struay, or texts from same Author.
