Product Description

Product Description

Building on the success of "The Accidental Vegetarian and The Rebel Cook", this book contains recipes that are accessible to even the novice cook and tasty enough to satisfy the most experienced home cook. It is ideal both for vegetarians who wish to eat seasonally and people who buy veg boxes or enjoy cooking vegetarian food for health reasons.

About the Author

Simon Rimmer is chef-proprietor of two restaurants: the multi award-winning Greens in Manchester (vegetarian) and Earle in Hale (non-vegetarian, bistro-like atmosphere) and author of The Accidental Vegetarian and The Rebel Cook. He is chef-presenter of BBC2's Something for the Weekend, which airs every Sunday from 10-11.30am, and of ITV1/Granada's regional cooking programme Grubs Up, which airs weekly at 7.30pm. He is also presenter of a new BBC TV show Recipes for Success, which gives budding amateur cooks the chance to devise their own menus and run a restaurant for a day as head chef and front-of-house manager.

I've owned this book for a while and there are so many things that I cook time and time again. The Fennel Flatbreads are a brilliant accompaniment to any spicy meal. I have cooked the peppered mushroom and stilton pie at countless dinner parties. And last night I cooked the Root Vegetable and Goats Cheese Hash - a recipe I had previously over looked, that was a mistake because it tasted beautiful.

I have in the region of 40 cookbooks and this is the first book I head to when I've got friends coming over - it's clearly written with other people in mind, particularly if they are the sort that like big flavours and hearty portions. If you're looking for a cook book full of recipes to make for one then it probably isn't suitable but if you want a book of recipes that are designed for tucking in around a big kitchen table then this is the one for you.

really good book to have as a vegetarian trying to cook for meat-eaters without actually using meat. so far i have made the beetroot gnocchi, laksa, lancashire hotpot, and lots of the side dishes and all have been well received, (except for my friend's 3-year old son who refused the gnocchi because it was pink. the recipes are really flavoursome and fulfilling and the book reads well too (its like simon rimmer is talking to you!. i would definately recommend this book to anyone who is either vegetarian or cooking veggie food for meat eaters!

Just the best! 20 July 2009
Format:Hardcover
I have recently bought the Seasoned Vegetarian and the Accidental Vegetarian, and have found them both wonderful. Everything that I have made so far has been perfect, although from reading the recipes I have been sceptical. Tonight have made the Patatos Bravos according to Simon's method, which I thought wouldn't work, but they were lovely. Not every recipe appeals to me, but that is always the case. What surprises me is that Simon makes such gorgeous veggies food, but still eats meat!
