What a surprise - I ordered this book to replace my old, worn out copy and received a totally new story! Only the names of the characters remain, even their habits are changed. For first time readers a dashing, thrilling adventure of the nineties, maybe a trifle too short in some passages. The essence is the same: 4 children and their secret-agent-friend Bill want to spend a holiday (old edition : in Scotland, new edition : in New Zealand)and tumble from one adventure into the other. By chance they find traces of illegal activity, then Bill vanishes and they set out on a rescue mission. Fascinating, how old Maori history is woven into the new story. Quite an interesting new makeup for an old book. A pity we shall never know what Enid Blyton would have thought about it!
