I've bought this book for many friends and all have enjoyed its wonderful description of the scottish islands. I've sailed with it as an indispensible reference and toured the islands by car with it on the passenger seat! Great reference book with descriptons, maps and facts on all the islands, even the smallest one. A real gem.

Not a pilot
The newspaper reviewers who describe this as ideal for island hoping are indulging their journalistic licence. This is definitely not a pilot nor even a guide book. Read more

The Bible.
For island hopping this is all you need. Sure it is bulky, so you are not going to use it on the CalMac in the W Isles, but get the relevant extracts photocopied prior to leaving. Read more
