I'd like to firstly say that I am a big fan of Terry Brooks, especially the Elfstones of Shannara which blew me away. But yet as I read more TB novels I find that his style does get very repetative. The Scions of Shannara has obvious parallels to his other stories. Although this book has got a collection of new ideas which are interesting, you'll realise the whole story seems somewhat familiar. The main protagonists seem to have almost exactly the same character as those in the previous novels!
Although the Scions of Shannara never seemed to actually go anywhere, I still found myself turning the pages, and I think certain elements such as the mysterious Shadowen, and the crazed Federation, will drive me to read the next in the series.
A decent book by fantasy genre standards, but very repetative if you have read many other Shannara novels.
