On the first listen it seems a far cry from the raw, heavy guitar based drive of 'Razorblade Suitcase', a generally more synthesised sound. Not that this is a bad thing, rather, progressive and a more polished end result. The album builds up through 'Warm Machine' and 'The Chemicals between us' to one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, 'Letting the Cables Sleep'. A powerful ballad that perfectly suits Gavin Rossdale's gentle grunge vocals, backed up by a full string section.
A wonderful album, not quite as instant as other Bush offerings, but definitely a good addition to any CD collection.
