Product Description

Review

"Schroeder offers fresh evidence for the eternal argument that science and religion, matter and spirit, need not be seen as conflicting or mutually exclusive." -- "Publishers Weekly" --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

Uniting staunchly opposed viewpoints into one groundbreaking new perspective, this startling and timely work illuminates the complete interdependence between Biblical reports and modern scientific discoveries. Comparing key events from the Old Testament with the most current findings of biochemists, paleontologists, and physicists, Gerald Schroeder resolves age-old debates about miracles, the origins of the universe, the first life on Earth, and the meaning of free will. Through thoughtful, engaging discussions--even using Einstein's theory of relativity to validate a six-day creation timetable--The Science of God ultimately proves both Darwin and creationists right.

Compelling 25 April 2001
Format:Paperback
The ideas expressed in this book are well presented and explained, sometimes using clever annalogies and simple diagrams. It contains many concepts which will not be so easy to grasp, that's not just the Physics and Biology, but some of the biblical stuff also. Several reads are a must to get the most out of it.

The convergence with the 6 days of creation and the last 15billion years are shocking. Other surprises await the reader and one of the best things about the book is that it relies on old commentaries written long before current theories on cosmology and evolution came about.

By restricting himself (mostly) to these sources the author avoids what must be the all-too-easy trap of re-interpretting the bible to fit in with modern science. This is therefore a scholarly work and I recomend it to anyone with an open mind.

Schroeder's work is the most readable and fascinating work yet on the many "coincidences" that made it possible for life to exist in the Universe. The reasoning is tightly constructed and some readers may want to backtrack to understand some of the key points more thoroughly. Others will want to read the book a scond time -as I did- simply for the sheer pleasure of the author's company. He makes some of the most profound ideas in cosmology, quantum mechanics and other areas of scientific enquiry accessible and, more importantly, enjoyable. This is a book that will change the way many readers see the Universe and the way that they contemplate the mystery of existence. This is a must-read!

Bad logic 22 April 2012
Format:Paperback
The author is charismatic, that is true. The book is reasonably well written and persuasive, but it has a floor. The arguments are not in line with what science really is or what is really known. It makes great assumptions which are unfounded and can only be taken as correct if you already believe in God. In short, this book is not worth the paper its written on.
