Product Description

Another adventure for the Pimpernel, alias Sir Percy Blakeney (Richard E. Grant). Sir Percy travels to France with his wife Marguerite (Elizabeth McGovern) in order to rescue the daughter of a French nobleman from Mademoiselle Guillotine (Denise Black). Matters become complicated when Marguerite is captured, along with Robespierre's right-hand man, Chauvelin (Martin Shaw), who finds his past returning to haunt him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like the James Bond of the French revolution 3 Dec 2000

Format:VHS Tape
The film has swashbuckling fight scenes, love, intrigue, defeating the enemy by clever twists of fate and lots of humour. Richard E Grant is fantastic as the Pimpernel and Elizabeth McGovern is great his wife, Lady Blakeney. It's so good I want to read the books.
Having seen the rest of the films on TV, this is one of the best and keeps you desperate for the good guys to win right up until the final scene.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rattling good yarn 9 April 2013
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I don't know how true this version is to the book but it is a rollicking good Revolutionary romp Richard E Grant performs with plenty of tongue in his cheek and the citizen villains are eminently booable. Interesting location shots, to boot (I think it was filmed in the Czech Republic). So if you want a bit of escapism in the middle of a British winter, why not try this?
