Professor Dunning (Terry Molloy) is finding the business of single-handedly saving Great Britain from the forces of darkness rather taxing. And Lionheart? Lionheart is missing. Here's another Scarifyers adventure of outstanding class. I've been looking forward to listening it, as it is the first story without mr. Courtney, and was wondering if the series could survive without him. Well, it does and how!
This new story is without doubt as good as any other from the series. It's funny, fast paced and exciting, and very well done. But what makes it stand out is the way in which the death of Nick Courtney has been worked into the story. Rather than just carelessly replacing his character with another, this story sort of revolves around Lionheart's death. It also introduces his replacement in a credible manner, allowing more stories to follow. I feel that here the makers have made a very good choice and have done an outstanding job. I know the team treat the stories with great respect, but now they've shown to also treat team-members with great respect. That makes this story simply suberb!

I'm glad that the decision was to carry on with The Scarifyers because not only would it have been the loss of a very funny series of stories but of this opportunity to give a fond and warm tribute to Nicholas Courtney through this story. It's as funny and quirky as usual but the saying good bye to and missing of Nick/Lionhart was so poignant and hart felt that I feel sure he would have very much liked it.

After listening to the previous wonderful shows first on Radio 4 and then buying the mp3 downloads for adventure 1 and the CDs for the rest (which format I purchased this in), I am aghast to see the only download option as via Audible. This is a horribly restrictive system that requires you to log on and register the device that you intend to use to listen to the show. None of my devices are listed, needless to say. If Amazon is going to move to this system wholesale to deliver non music downloads such as this and shows like Cabin Pressure and Clare in the Community people will go elsewhere, like I am.
