Darren Shan, the vampire’s assistant, must clear his name and avenge the death of Gavner Purl. Can a half-vampire outwit a Vampire Prince?

THE SAGA OF DARREN SHAN BOOK 6
Betrayed by Kurda and reeling from the brutal slaying of Gavner, the vampire’s assistant, Darren Shan, finds himself branded a traitor and hunted by the vampire clan.

Will Darren’s failure to complete the Trials mean banishment for Mr Crepsley and execution for himself? Or can Darren return to the home of the damned and exact revenge?

But Darren comes to realise that there is more than revenge at stake – the vampire clan must combat the rise of the Vampaneze Lord, or see his ascension mark the end of thousands of years of vampire rule…

This book was definitely worth the wait -although not as "gripping" as a few of the previous ones, it really took off on its own with respect to Darren finding his way amongst the vampires and reconciling his beliefs with those of the vampires. A comfortable and familiar read - can't wait for the next book, Darren Shan! :)

I've read all nine books of the Saga of Darren Shan published so far, and I must say that the whole set of Darren Shan is simply---amazing.(Except maybe the fourth book, it is a bit boring, but it is a turning point of the events happened later, so it is also a must-read.)
I bought the 9 books one afternoon because my friend keeping urging me to read the books, and remarked that Darren Shan is BETTER than J.K. Rowling. After I've read all 9 books, I think it is very much TRUE.(If you don't believe, read it yourself!)
The books are so addictive that i can't stop reading even when eating meals and i sleep at 2a.m. every night in order to finish the books.
In the books, you will find that Darren Shan, the main character in the books, has brain, strength and luck of vampire with him. He admire the loyalty of vampires, and he tried hard to do so. He is a hero to all vampires. I admire his character and always trying to copy the ways he did when facing dificulties and challenges.

You will learnt a lot from reading this set of books --- The Saga of Darren Shan. Therefore, I encourage all readers who like adventures and horror stories to read them, for your own sake.

One of the best yet! 19 Mar 2004

I have read all 10 of Darren Shan's books, and this by far is one of the best. It is a mixture of excitment, emotion and adventure.
It is an awesome end to the second trilogy in the saga. The only down point about this book is that it does not last very long, once you pick it up it is immpossible to put down again; i finished it in under two days!
