Darren goes to a banned freak show with his best mate Steve. But his daring theft goes horribly wrong. The spider bites Steve and Darren has to sell his soul to Mr Crepsley – a member of the vampire clan – to get the antidote.
Something out of the ordinary is set against the background of children’s normal lives to chilling effect. Atmospheric, funny, realistic, moving and… terrifying.

I had to come to Amazon UK to find this book in audio and it did not disappoint! The voices and talent of this man who reads it are truly amazing! I purchased it for my school and have been sharing it with different reading teachers and students - everyone EVERYONE is enjoying it immensely. Thank you!

Aimed at older children but will be liked by adults too. Well read and keeps you wanting to listen to the end. I thoroughly enjoyed it and got the rest in the series

I saw these books advertised when I bought Skullduggery Pleasant and thought I would try book 1. I loved Skullduggery Pleasant which was fast paced but this is a slow burner. I loved the characters and it has made me order book 2 to read. It has a great eeriness about it and wonderfull comedy too. If you like a good story and all things vampire you will love this book.
