Grey provides an excellent introduction to Russian artists who are less well-known in the West only because of the Cold War and the lack of marketing on the part of the Russian museums. If Western museums had owned paintings by these artists, they would have been splashed across every screen saver, coffee mug and calendar. Grey does an admirable job of putting these artists into their fascinating historical context. If anyone is planning a trip to the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow or the Russian States Museum in Petersburg, this book is well worth reading.

This is a useful book, largely focused on the Russian Constructivist movement and Malevich's Suprematist movement. Sadly most illustrations are black and white, although some only exist in photographic record which was only black and white at the time.

This is a very readable guide to a fascinating but little known period in art.My one criticism is that the book cuts off before the rise of Stalinism and socialist realism becoming the new orthodoxy. It would have been fascinating to have an explanation of how this reaction to the experimental art of the revolution arose and what its impact was.

Definitely a brilliant book for anyone studying this period. It has images to help break up the text and written very well.

Book arrived very quickly, within the week. I couldn't find this title in the bigger bookshops, and you had it at a great price. Thanks.
