Product Description

Product Description

Please note: All three Silo Submerged books are now available in one volume! The Runner is book one.

"As good as the source material -- if not better! I loved this story and hardly breathed as I read it straight through." --HUGH HOWEY, author of Wool.

"We all have a reason for being here, we're just not sure what it is."

Time is running out. As the Great Flood threatens to consume the silo, Ace and a team of divers are in a desperate battle to avert disaster. When a terrible accident destroys the person he cares about most, Ace has little left to live for.

After nearly succumbing to the silo's flooded depths, he realizes that drastic measures must be taken in order to save their underground home. But those in charge deem his ideas too dangerous, his methods too forbidden, and he is shunned for his sin of toxic words.

When an opportunity for redemption presents itself, Ace has only one question: Why should he fight to save these people, if they aren't willing to help themselves?

*The Runner contains plot elements found in Hugh Howey's Wool Omnibus (Wool 1-5).

5.0 out of 5 stars A cool addition to Wool universe 24 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
WJ totally captures the essence of Hugh Howey's stories. A satisfying excerpt of life in a Silo.
There are some intriguing plot threads raised which I hope will be explored in further episodes from the Silo.
A short and enjoyable fan fiction tale which totally nails the Wool style.

5.0 out of 5 stars The First of Many, Hopefully 24 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've read all of Hugh Howey's Silo output and love it. This offering from W J Davies fits right in there seamlessly.

I liked the Q&A with Howey at the end, a nice touch.

I just wish it had been longer, but hopefully more will follow.

I'm looking forward to WJD's new novel Binary Cycle, due out later this year.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but also familiar 1 Sep 2013

Format:Audio Download
I liked this story but to me it was the same as Juliette's in Casting Off (Wool 3), but with a less favourable outcome. Not original enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story in the Silo World 28 July 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
WJ Davies has put himself in the mindset of a Silo occupant very well, and come up with an intriguing (if brief) story. I'd love to see it fleshed out into a longer story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable short story 22 April 2013
By Eliza
Format:Kindle Edition
Fits in seamlessly with the wool series by Hugh Howey, first bit of fan fiction I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Had to give 3 stars because its good but not groundbreaking, only the best books get >4 from me! Would recommend to anyone who has enjoyed reading Wool.
