Product Description

A funny thing happened on the way to the reunion…

On a sunny Saturday in June, the Ruby Girls head to Winchester to celebrate their fortieth birthdays – their first reunion since leaving school. While Claire basks in a glow of wedded bliss (and makes sure everyone knows it), her seven friends do not… so they’ve each concocted a cunning plan to divert attention from their own dismal love stories.

But as the girls converge on the little city, they each find themselves caught up in a rather special wedding, inspiring them to rewrite history with a much happier (if not strictly true) ending. Will they be able to keep up their tall tales as the reunion lunch progresses, or will the truth spill out?

Historic Winchester is the yummiest setting for this fun, fast-moving, feel-good story of renewed friendship, new love and leaving the past behind – even Jane Austen makes a cameo appearance!

'…A wonderfully romantic and intertwined plot that couldn't possibly happen but is so satisfying you really wish it could. And I would like it to happen to me!' (reader review)

More About the Author

I feel a bit of a fraud having an author page with only one book on it - but I have another one completed, two under construction, and lots more titles in my head! In the meantime, I thought you might need a bit of help with my name, J-J Jacamez - it's pronounced Jay-Jay Yakamets (not, as you might imagine, Jay-Jay Jakamets or Yay-Yay Yakamets). I'm a freelance editor and writer of a strange assortment of non-fiction subjects (under a less challenging name). The highly unlikely plot of The Ruby Girls was inspired by my school reunion group, to whom the book is dedicated - we often meet in Winchester, my favourite medieval city, but so far our outings have been disappointingly uneventful compared to those of the fictional Ruby Girls. Still, we have another lunch coming up soon, and you never know...

What an uplifting book, I laughed, cried and felt extremely happy reading this book, read it in one hit. The author has a wonderful way of describing places, feelings, situations, I was there in every situation feeling the emotion, tasting the food, smelling the flowers, what a talent JJ Jacamez has. This will be my read anytime book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down! 16 May 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
The Ruby Girls is a funny and romantic read, I was hooked from the first chapter. I felt attached to each character and was right behind them till the end. There is nothing nicer then a book about love and friendships, I was left feeling warm inside.

A perfect poolside read that I would recommend to anyone who wants to get stuck into a romantic comedy.

5.0 out of 5 stars One to treasure. 19 May 2013

This author has a great insight into the fears and ambitions that we all have and the differing ways that individuals can deal with them. She has created a lighthearted plot but with concerns that may affect any one of us and has shown that these concerns can be surmounted. We understand the problems suffered by each of the protagonists and are delighted at the resolution of each case. A great one to pack in the holiday suitcase as I know that I shall be re-reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic read 4 Dec. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm in my early 40s and, growing up near Winchester, I went to a girls school in the city (the other one from the Ruby Girls!), so I had to read this book. I was not disappointed.

I found the book very cleverly constructed, well written and witty. It was entertaining watching each less than confident "girl" come into her own on the day of the reunion. Barriers and preconceived ideas were broken down, romance was found and the day was saved. All this against the beautiful backdrop of the city of Winchester. What was not to like?

I really loved this book and I hope that the author will send more novels our way. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to email my former classmates to see how they feel about the idea of a reunion...!

2.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time 17 Oct. 2013

Silly, predicable chic-lit about girlfriends travelling to a school reunion. Each woman has an adventure on the way and meets Mr Right - all bar one, who is married and, having an affair.
Very trite and not for me.

A fun tale of a group of old school pals. Sadly, the story tended to be a bit repetitive, predictable and at times, confusing. Read more

Only read it because I paid for it! Towards half way I didn't feel I could get to the end. The writer regurgitates the story over and over.
