I don't play any musical instruments so I can not give an educated opinion about the performance and how technically correct it is. On my first listen this music just captivated my attention. All I can describe is the emotional impact to my senses. I am suprised nobody has bothered to say a few words about this recording. First of all the audio fidelity and the (SBM) process really brings out the grand piano as a breathing instrument. The transparency level is high. When loud passages are played no distortion is picked up by the microphones - yet the sheer force of the music is presented with clarity. You can hear lot of resonance emitted from the instrument and the decay of the notes hang in the air.
In other words the listener is given a very accurate reproduction of the sound of a grand piano.
Schumann is obviously an undisputed musical genius. The passages I heard do not sound like any other classical music I have heard - this guy had to be communicating with angels and demons all at the same time. From the first track and the first note the music has a grip on the listener and does not let go until the last track. All the passages which are performed with great keyboard skills have this 'nobel' character - like the notes are untouchable. Highly recommended!! I am actually amazed and grateful somebody sold me this disk as a 'used' item. Sorry, I would never sell this music out of my collection - it's a keeper.
