If you want a collection of good photos of famous warships of the Royal Navy, this is for you; provided you don't care that they are all broadside on photos with the crew on deck. All these photos were taken as ships came into Portsmouth harbours, guns trained fore and aft with the crew on parade. The two to four lines of text tell you when it was bulit, when it was scrapped and the absolute bare minimum of anything else. The ships are in alphabetical order, not by class and include everything from torpedo boats to battleships. It is not clear what ships may have been left out, so it is hard to know how comprehensive this is.
On the other hand, reading the data, it is interesting to see how the UK scrapped almost the entire surface fleet during the 1950's and abdicated any ambitions to maintain it's previous status as a world naval power. Good or bad thing?
