Up to standard 25 Aug 2008

Format:Paperback
A nice little book set largely in the 1930s about a boy befriending the mysterious Alice, of Wonderland fame. It is bitter-sweet without being sentimental, and the author clearly enjoyed penning the plummy language of the main character's cousin.

It certainly won't disappoint any child already familiar with Dick King-Smith.

Scary 13 Jan 2008
Format:Hardcover
While on summer holidays in 1936, fourteen-year-old Evan meets a mysterious girl who bears a striking resemblance to the Alice of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." They meet on the Round Hill looking down on the town. The rating for this book that I give this horror story is 7/ 10.
Can you guess what Alice really is? I have made a list of facts that are rather ghostly:
1) One minute she is there - the next she isn't.
2) She is rather grey
3) She talks as if in the past.
4) She wears very old clothes
5) She walks through a locked gate.
