Product Description

Michigan based quintet La Dispute have announced that they will release their third full-length, titled Rooms of the House, via their newly established label, Better Living, in partnership with Big Scary Monsters Records. A portion of the proceeds from this record will go toward causes advancing and encouraging youth involvement in the arts and music, such as all-ages spaces, creative workshops, programming, and education. To write for the new release, La Dispute retreated to a remote cabin in Michigan's upper peninsula with the hope that working together in a different environment would take them out of their comfort zone and enable them to create their strongest record yet. The area where we were was pretty remote so we could focus on playing and not much else, bassist Adam Vass explains. It was just the five of us working on writing every single day for a month and pretty much the entire album came out of those sessions. To support the release of Rooms of the House, the band have announced a full UK and European tour that runs through April and May (all tour dates below). Joining La Dispute on these dates will be O' Brother La Dispute is vocalist Jordan Dreyer, guitarists Kevin Whittemore and Chad Morgan-Sterenberg, bassist Adam Vass and drummer Brad Vander Lugt.

Great record, my favorite of 2014 so far. Hardcore/punk/emo/screamo, whatever you want to call it, this record just grabs you.

Mature, relevant and beautiful - this album is perfect.

Wildlife was full of killer tunes and a consistent feel, but here La Dispute have managed to create a piece with clarity and poise that encapsulates a journey through day to day, imagined and remembered events of past and present in the seemingly simple context of a house.

Incredible emotional hardcore, for fans of Touche Amore. Will definitely be seeking out the rest of their catalogue from amazon.

There are other bands besides La Dispute? I had no idea. 19 Mar. 2014
By S_Brick - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
For those of you fortunate enough to know La Dispute, you already know what to expect with this album. It’s every bit as good as “Somewhere at the Bottom of the River between Vega and Altair” and “Wildlife” are. Unfortunately, I haven’t listened enough to say that it’s better than either, but I have listened enough to know that any La Dispute fan will appreciate this great album. The lyrics are just as amazing, the musical composition is incredible, Jordan’s vocals will give you chills, etc. One of the reasons I haven’t listened to the album as many times as I want is because the first song, Hudsonville, MI 1956, is so good that I keep repeating it.

This is a concept album, and for those unfamiliar with what that means, it is basically an album where all the songs built off one another, or continuous. The whole album basically tells a story, and the album should be looked at as one giant piece, rather than individual songs, although La Dispute has always kind of done that.

For those of you who don’t know La Dispute, fix that. I hate that it is the way it is, but for some reason, La Dispute is an acquired taste. Many whom I have showed La Dispute are put-off by Jordan’s vocals, but to those who decide to give it a few listens, they always come back a few days later and tell me “La Dispute is so good!” This album is available to stream a few places on the internet, so if you must, give it a listen before buying it. But, support the band!

La Dispute, if you're reading this, I love you.

Sincerity, passion, good instrumentation, and relatable lyricism. 24 May 2014
By Andres Irigoyen - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Vinyl
His vocal delivery is so passionate and emotional I can't help but feel exactly how he feels, sincerity goes a very long way for me. I really believe everything he says. Granted the stories aren't quite as hard-hitting as Wildlife, they're last album, I still love the overall theme and atmosphere they went for. It feels so personal yet so relatable. The album is actually more dynamic and easier on the ears than their previous work, maybe a little more accessible to people wanting to get into them. But anyways, this band continues to stand out in this genre and I can't wait to hear what they do next

La Dispute are Storytellers, and this album shines. 17 April 2014
By J.Frazier - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
La dispute grows with each album they release. If you have ever heard an album by this band, you are sure to have had goosebumps at one time or another. Jordan, the lead singer, rather than home in on some sere crooning you hear from today's band, he lays it out in an almost spoken word format. He uses the words of the song to grab your attention, and keep you holding on to hear how the story goes.

Every song on this album is a masterpiece, but there are few that stand out.

Woman (reading) to me is the real gem on this album. Most everyone here I am sure has lost a loved one at some point. he talks about a loved one that is no longer there. Each words builds up to a climatic ending for the song.

Objects in Space - For something spoken, not sung, the picture he paints is heartfelt and full of emotion. You will find yourself living the song.

For those who have never listened to La Dispute, I would recommend this without hesitation, you may also want to pick up Wildlife.

Very different but very good. 12 Jun. 2014
By Andrew - Published on Amazon.com

This album is not very similar to any of their previous albums. They took a much less heavy/hardcore approach and it actually works very well. I really enjoy this album regardless of how different it is.
