Book Description

The shadows of greatness can be blinding.
We have this idea of what we’re supposed to be. What happens when that changes?
Arie Levi is living the life her mother lived. Same sport, same drama, and even less time for the family she so desperately needs right now.
Her new husband, Easton Levi, is battling it out as a NASCAR triple threat in all three premier divisions and faced with the same drama his father-in-law fought so hard to avoid.
Arie’s never been for the spotlight but would rather be in the shadows.
In a twist of secrets and lies, she finds herself back home wondering what’s real and trustworthy in her life. Being back home is exactly what she needs, and what her mother needs as well. An unlikely bond is finally formed when another is breaking. Soon Arie finds herself in the arms of an old flame there to catch her when she’s falling.
Through the smoke, the truth between what Arie needs and what she believes in revealed in ways she never expected. Does Arie find out what it really means to have family by your side?
Or does she run from the only truth she knows to avoid more heartache?

4.0 out of 5 stars The Rookie 4 Aug. 2014

I love this racing family so much, they have so much love. This is Arie's story. At 22 she has been married to Easton for 4 years and they've hit a rough patch. He has taken on too much, trying to win 3 championships in one year and its pushed them apart. Arie's fed up and she finds an excuse to run home to be with her family.

While she's with her family on the dirt tracks and at home, she reconnects with Rager, a guy who she's always had feelings for.

Arie's angry with Easton and I think she's feeling confused about Rager but as the reader I felt a bit confused myself with her. I felt in the beginning that we had too many negatives against Easton and too many positives for Rager. I was rooting for Easton but it got to a point where I was like jeez why don't you divorce the guy and get together with Rager. I didn't want to feel that way but she seemed to be only telling me the negatives about Easton and there weren't many positives. I started to doubt that she even loved the guy!

It wasn't until about 80% in that I started understanding her and Easton's relationship. But she kept saying that a bit of her would always be in love with Rager and to be honest I think it was more lust, I think they had chemistry but technically they'd not done much to act upon that.

I did get a better understanding of her relationship with Easton but I still don't feel like there were enough positives about him and I'd have liked her to focus longer on what she did love about him etc.

It was great catching up with the usual Riley pranks and I loved seeing Jameson and Sway together. Their relationship is epic. They have some struggles in this book as well and that really brought the whole family together.

But there was also more serious situations which led to heartbreak and tears!

A great story and addition to the series but I just wanted to LOVE Easton more than I did. I wanted to see their love a bit more

Absolutely LOVE this book/this series. Shey has a way with writing about these characters that make you feel a part of the story. It's obvious racing is her passion. Arie & Easton's story is so amazing and LOVE Jameson & Sway and the rest of the Riley clan making appearances as well. Thanks for another amazing ride!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ball of jumbled emotions 3 Aug. 2014

Wow what a different direction this book went. My heart is a jumbled mess of emotions right now after finishing it. I l absolutely love the Riley's and this is Aries story of her life as a wife to nascar racer Easton Levi. This story is so much more than your typical funny Riley story, it's love, gut wrenching hurt, emotional and all about the love of one family struggling in times of need. I spent the majority of this book with tears in my eyes but ended with a smile on my face! Great job Shey!!

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the Racing on the Edge series. Shey is such a great writer. This book although a little more emotionally involved then the rest was just great. I loved Arie's story. Very different from her parents which was perfect since nobody can ever compare to Jameson & Sways love!!!
