Product Description

Product Description

In July 1991, nine skeletons were exhumed from a shallow mass grave near Ekaterinburg, Siberia, a few miles from the infamous cellar room where the last tsar and his family had been murdered seventy-three years before. But were these the bones of the Romanovs? And if these were their remains, where were the bones of the two younger Romanovs supposedly murdered with the rest of the family? Was Anna Anderson, celebrated for more than sixty years in newspapers, books, and film, really Grand Duchess Anastasia? The Romanovs provides the answers, describing in suspenseful detail the dramatic efforts to discover the truth. Pulitzer Prize winner Robert K. Massie presents a colorful panorama of contemporary characters, illuminating the major scientific dispute between Russian experts and a team of Americans, whose findings, along with those of DNA scientists from Russia, America, and Great Britain, all contributed to solving one of the great mysteries of the twentieth century.

This book should ONLY be read as a follow on to Nicholas and Alexandra. It answers alot of questions, for whch I am grateful. I do not believe the author should re-write his orginal work as it was written from the heart on what was fact at the time. I read many biographies and I judge all of them on the work of Robert K Massie

? The Final Chapter 7 Aug 2011

Format:Paperback
Not the final chapter as since this book was written the missing two bodies have been discovered but still utterly fascinating. Here's hoping Massie will write the final "final" chapter!

An interesting read for those who are familiar with Massie's earlier work, "Nicholas and Alexandra". In this book Massie updates information since gained on the fate of Nicholas and Alexandra and their discovered place of burial. It's a most useful publication. Massie should be congratulated on the research he has done into this tragic family. One would hope that Massie will now amend his original work.
