Book Description

A family murdered in the dead of night. A treasure lost in the throes of revolution. A 90-year mystery that Lenin, Stalin, and the entire Soviet war chest couldn’t solve. One woman holds the key to it all: the missing fortune of Nicholas II, last tsar of Russia.

Natalie Brandon believes the rumors that the murdered tsar left behind a secret account to provide for his family in exile. But getting someone to believe her is harder than finding the account itself. Diagnosed with schizophrenia as a child, Natalie is tormented by a recurring hallucination, the voice of an angel named Belial. Even her sister, a Russian history professor, won’t take her claim seriously…until a blond, blue-eyed Russian spy kidnaps Natalie, claiming she’s the only one who can lead him to the treasure.

But Constantine Dashkov isn’t the only one after the tsar's missing millions. Russian Prime Minister Maxim Starinov will do anything to get them first. Natalie and Constantine must outrun Starinov’s death squad and track the treasure from San Francisco to Moscow to London. The hunt draws in Natalie’s sister, Constantine’s partner, and a loyal Russian family whose only mission is to guard the Romanovs' secret. With nothing more than Natalie’s supernatural intuition to guide them, the pair must fight for their lives in a race to protect the tsar’s legacy from a greedy despot.

Blending action, romance, and suspense, The Romanov Legacy is a spy thriller that takes an unlikely heroine on one of the world's greatest treasure hunts.

At the end of the story, keep reading for a preview of the forthcoming prequel, The Dante Deception.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth reading. 2 Nov. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I downloaded this purely on the basis that it was different to what I normally read (I LOVE Vampire fiction).

From chapter one, I really enjoyed this book. Like others, would love to have known who Belial was. Not knowing his back ground did not spoil the story for me in any way though. Natalie had my admiration by the end of the book and I'm really glad that I actually veered away from my preferred genre and read The Romanov Legacy. So much so that I googled and read about the Romanov family once I finished reading this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars A secret..... 8 Feb. 2014
By 'Mrs M'
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A fast paced book, full of twists and turns. It starts with the Tzar and his family just before their death, and switches between Russia. USA and London in the present day.
A secret Romanov bank account, Russian secret police, and an unlikely heroine.
A good story, well worth a read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining 1 Jun. 2015
Format:Kindle Edition
What happened to the missing fortune of Nicholas 11, the last tsar of Russia? No one has yet solved this mystery till Natalie Brandon, a schizophrenic since childhood, believes the account exits and knows it can be found….but Natalie is not the only one wanting to get hold of it. The Russian Prime Minister Maxim Starinov also has his eyes on the treasure and has all the resources and power to obtain whatever he wants.

By far from being an historical fiction this action-packed story is more a thriller tempered with ghostly visions than anything else. In my view, this is highly fictionalized and has little to do the Romanov true drama. I was disappointed to notice this but again I should have read the synopsis better. The historical figures could have easily be replaced by whomever and still be a good novel.

Having said this, the story has some merits: We find a tale that unfolds smoothly and a narrative that is clear and concise. Each step is easy to follow, we do go back in time and forward to the present in alternate chapters as the rumour of the treasure passes down from generation to generation. Natalie’s nightmarish visions are well done although it gave a sci-fi feeling to the experience. Everything was a bit farfetched. The characterization was good but not out of the ordinary: the good guys were the run of the mill, the bad guys as expected had a typical tenacious style to them, forget about the historical figures they were in names only. Read this novel for the suspense but definitely not for its historical values.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not believable enough 1 Sept. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I didn't finish this book, in fact I barely started it, a couple of chapters or so. The premise was totally unbelievable and untenable, the money would have been found during the various European banking scandals, and if it was kept a secret, it would remain a secret, and if agencies want you silenced, you would get silenced, and quickly. And as for a malevolent angel living in someone's head....well I didn't know that I could take the book seriously. Not for me, anyway, sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a read 9 Nov. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
OK, perhaps I'm being indiscriminately positive, but I really enjoyed this book. I didn't know what to expect and it's not a genre I normally read, but I ended up really enjoying it. I love the description of the angel living inside Natalie's head, when she felt his wings stirring and scratching against the back of her skull it was so believable. Natalie's "mental illness" changed this from a normal political thriller / detective story into something much more absorbing.
