The Rolling Stones Fake Book includes 167 classic Stones songs recorded between 1963 and 1971 -- from early blues covers (Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly songs) to the psychedelia of Their Satanic Majesties Request. All songs are in complete, professional-style lead sheets with fundamental instrumental riffs and figures included. There is also a special guitar TAB section, featuring the pivotal guitar riffs and solos from 29 of their most legendary songs, an introductory essay, a full-color ABKCO years discography (with album art), and 40 pages of classic early sheet music covers reproduced in full color. The ultimate Rolling Stones songbook!

3.0 out of 5 stars SO SO 3 April 2007

I might have known better..really the only useful part of this entire book is the tab-section the rest is really unuseable for guitar players..and I think that is because the music of the Stones just doesn't translate well in an easy-play format (basic cord diagrams). Save your money and spend it on the few "play as it is" tabbooks avail. Heavens I wish someone would TAB STICKY FINGERS!!

4.0 out of 5 stars More than a fake book 28 Feb 2012
By George Kaplan - Published on Amazon.com

This volume compiles every pre-Exile stones tune in fake-book style. But in addition to melody, lyrics and chords, the editors have also included the key figures and riffs that define each tune. In some cases (She's a Rainbow) they even deliver almost a full part-by-part score.

What's immediately obvious is Jagger's way underappreciated skill in lyric-writing and Richard's incredible mastery of blues-derived forms. Guitar tabs for a number of tunes reveal Keith's open-tuning penchant as well.

If I have one quibble, it is with the over-precision in melody transcription. Simple quarter and eighth notes would have sufficed. We all know the tunes!

Extra credit for comb-binding. An archeological feast! Recommended.

I can now strum and sing all the old songs I loved for all these years. The book is set up well, especially the spiril binding, and plenty of pics.
All the songs,I mean all.Except About 4 songs were missing from pages 62-70. A very good and worth while buy..If you love old Rolling Stones songs, you will be very pleased.
