If, like me, your taste in country veers more towards the uptempo end rather than the maudlin mah-baby's-gone-and-left-me' schmalz, this bargain-priced 16-track comp is just the right place. More Allman Bros-ish in their 'Eat a Peach' phase than Steve Earle or Dwight Yoakam, this rocks more than both of them. 'The Rockin side' pulls together the best of the ballsier stuff from 5 albums. This is a fine antidote to the stadium rock antics of Garth Brooks, the MoR Country of Shania and the stetsoned acoustic warblings of most of TT's contemporaries. So, if you're sick of bland mainstream rock and pop this is a fun alternative.
