5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding 16 Nov 2005
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I listened to this album through the MTV Leak and no words can describe how happy i am with it.

I'm a huge Linkin Park fan and was not too piped up at the thought of a rap album by Mike, but after listening to a track a few months ago i'm amazed.

This album is absoloutley amazing and i see all Mike's hard work has paid off.The lyrics are deep and thoughtful and the music is amazing.

My favourite tracks are "Kenji" which talks about Mike's families struggle when they got to the US from Japan. It's very emotional and deep.

"Red To Black" is amazing, the lyric's storyline is intresting and the music is awesome,i believe it's heavier than the rest of the tracks - more rock-ish.

"Right Now" highlights for me,how much we all take for granted. All these situations people are in all over the world right now,how often do we take time to spare a thought on other people's situations, their harship, their pain, their greif?

"Slip Out Back" is outstanding, the lyrics & music combined make it so.

There isn't a single track on this album i hate,it's brilliant.I highly suggest you order this album if you like Linkin Park/Rap/HipHop/or are just open to all kinds of music.

Mike Shinoda along with all the artists included have done an amazing job on this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fort Minor??? 6 Mar 2007
By Jim
Format:Audio CD
Fort Minor is Mike Shinoda's (from Linkin Park) side project. It's hard to catergorise Fort Minor, they are essentially a hip-hop group. However the use of various instruments such as a Violin would make me describe them as a Instrumental Hip-hop group. This album is very experimental and they have pulled it off.

The album has a few methodical songs such as "Get Me Gone" & "Kenji", however it still has mixture of mainstream songs mixed in. I would argue that some of the beats are fairly basic, but the rhyming flows and tells a story.

I would definetly recommend this album to Linkin Park fans, but also to hip-hop fans that enjoyed the Collision Course album by Jay-z & Linkin Park. Rising Tied doesn't have any heavy basslines or anything close to a full band playing as backing though.

Overall....an amazing album which I did not expect to be honest. Any true hip-hop or Mike Shinoda fan should definetly purchase this album. And by Hip-hop fan I don't mean poppy 50pence!

4.0 out of 5 stars Work of Art (Like The Album Cover) 9 April 2007
By Denus
Format:Audio CD
Firstly I would like to say that this album is pushing 5 stars, but isn't quite there due to some quite poor songs, although this is made up for by the quality of the good ones.

I am not a big fan of rap myself, I only bought this album because I am quite a big fan of Linkin Park, and Mike Shinoda stars on this album and what I heard I am extremely fond of. Yes it is rap but is easy to listen to, it doesn't snap at you like most rappers, it sort of flows which I like about this album, the way the lyrics and the backing music blend together well.

The lyrics are very well written and catchy- especially kenji which really gets the listener involved in the story, (It's about WW2 and the American relationship with the Japanese- where Shinoda's family originate from)

If you want to sample a few of the songs i would recommend;

Remember The Name

Where'd You Go

Kenji

Red To Black

Out The Back

Overall Easy Listening to what ever genre is your favourite. A good Buy!
