Ok lets be honest, this is not a massive high budget production.

Purchased it for bit of a laugh and was prepared for something truely awful.

Was actually surprised.. unlike say for example " in the name of king" it does not try and be bigger than it is and does not take it self too seriously .

The main actors especially the cute elf chick and orc guy hold the film together and make it entertaining.

As I said don't expect lord of the rings, expect hawk the slayer ;) ...

A pleasant surprise...a low budget fantasy movie that I initially watched on the SCI-FI channel which turned out to be a lot better then their usual fare. Ok so it doesnt try to hide its blatant references to the LORD OF THE RINGS films (opening sequence of a mystical voiced female telling us of the lands history as the camera glides over a map, plenty of orcs, an Elf and even a dungeon dwelling creature reminiscent of Gollum) but after a short time you dont care about its influences, if anything the decent story, acting, costumes and action sequences are a tribute to Jacksons influence...a neat homage. The at times overuse of camera filters to make the sky look unusual can be a bit annoying but apart from that I think, like myself, you will appreciate the efforts and hard work thats went into this ... superb orcs and that sexy blonde Elf is to die for!

didn't expect very much being a cheap B?TV movie but it was better than I expected it to be sort of a very low budget Lord of the Rings without a ring lol! It won't wow you but it's enjoyable with an Elven bounty hunter,an Orc & Keltus the good guy, there has to be one of course & there.s even some mermaids. It's rated 15 but should be PG there's nothing scary or anything a child shouldn't see in my opinion.

Nemyt Akaia (Danielle Chuchran) is a fiery elf who is a bounty hunter. She kills an orc and gets cursed. Keltus (Richard McWilliams) is a human wanderer because ranger has been already taken in LOTR. Nemyt has a strong natural resistance to the curse. This allows her to travel among the orcs and fallen elves. In addition to attempting to get the curse removed, it seems the whole world is about to come to an end with the release of the Shadow Lord or "he who which we don't speak." There are also dwarfs in this film who swap their allegiance to the orcs.

Yes, if you haven't figured it out, they did some wholesale stealing from LOTR including a night rider and several scenes that didn't involve more than 10 people. While the story boasts a shadow curse, it was a little light on dragons. The make up was pretty decent. Our elf wore cheap light blue contacts, but it looked good with her handlebar ears. The fighting choreography was noticeably bad in a few scenes. There were also too many poorly lite night time scenes. Kids should like it.

Parental Guide: No f-bombs, sex, nudity. Filmed in scenic Utah.

I waited until the price dropped before buying this DVD. It is pretty good and I would not have been dissapointed if I had paid full whack for it.

The other reviews will tell you the story. I will just say that it is good, I liked the characters and there are some nice twists along the way.

All right, it is not LOR but it is very watchable.

A very decent, competent Lord Of The Rings on a low budget film; which is worth bearing in mind if you plan to watch it. As such DO NOT EXPECT it to have billions spent on costume, make up, CGI effects, storyline, or anything else associated with Hollywood. What you will find, once you have left the aforementioned behind is, a pretty good film, a film which if not beating other Middle Earth type films, does more than hold it's own. It is a pretty ambitious attempt, that for the main manages to keep standing. My only gripe is that the ending seemed rather abrupt, and could have done with a bit more polish (obviously, money and time may have been factors). That being said, it is a good film. Enjoy it for what it is - Lord Of The Rings lite.

This film came as such a pleasant surprise, well directed and acted, with a reasonable plot, this film was clearly given the space and opportunity by producers to be brave and it pays off. The stand out character played by Danielle Chuchran who holds the film together with a believable character, who does not rely on sexiest stereotypes (you don't at any stage think she doesn't have the physical skills to do that). This film proves you don't need a big budget to make an excellent film, it is a shame that people here have given this film low marks for not being lord of the rings (LOTR), as there is not one film to rule them all or in the darkened living room bind them, if surfing elf's is what you want this is not for you, if you want character driven fantasy, with exceptional fight choreography and good cinematography which at no stage makes you feel it is people wondering in the woods with rubber swords, then this is for you. I feel if LOTR borrowed some of the techniques seen here it would not have needed to be so long and would have not been substandard to it's cartoon predecessor. I would strongly recommend this film, with it's only fault being the absence of rodents of unusual size.
