He has worked across a wide range of industries and customers, providing strategic advice and guidance around the intersection of a modern society and technology both inside and outside of the world of work. His first book: "Business Reimagined", provided a view of a new working environment based on collaborative and flexible working. His latest book, "The Rise of the Humans" provides a further call to action, for both individuals and organisations to harness not hate the digital deluge, to rise up and take back control of the potential that technology offers our society. His previous book, Business Reimagined, provided individuals and organisations with a view of a new working environment based on collaborative and flexible working and on technology that, used correctly, liberates rather than constrains.

Dave has contributed to a range of media articles, conferences and forums all relating to the goal of making technology less "visible" and more "valuable" in our daily lives.

It starts well: he identifies very real problems with the amount of data we face which is destroying our ability to think. Unfortunately it then goes downhill rather fast: chapter 3 is a bit vague, chapter 4 starts talking about "transforming the customer experience" which is a very bad sign. Chapter 5 starts talking about "unlocking the incredible potential we as individuals can bring to our organisations" which iis hard tor read seriously at all. Chapter 5 contains the claim that "big data and the insight we will gain from it will fundamentally change what it means to be human", and if you believe that I have a bridge to sell you.

Sad, as there were some good ideas there.

Some encouraging thoughts, some musing, a fun enjoyable read. Loved the optimism and challenge to not shrink back from our new connected reality and what it will take to thrive in the digital deluge.

A small book with big ideas and helpful suggestions. Straightforward, no-nonsense, creative, thought-provoking. This book should be required reading for companies large and small and for everyone who is caught up in the idea that all technology is good, so using more and more of it will automatically make things better. And make you happier. And more productive. We all know that is not true. This book helps you think about what you need to do, and why you need to do it, rather than slavishly following the herd. Ought to be required reading at Business Schools, for Business "A" Level and on MBA courses too.

I first read this as I thought it would give good insight into technology for research but ended up falling in love a little with the style of writing and the complicated world of the digital deluge. Definitely worth a read if only to satisfy your inner geek!
