Product Description

Review

"Despite 40 years of research and several lines of evidence, awareness of chronotherapy is still low in the medical and pharmaceutical world. Perhaps this book will start changing that."--Scotland on Sunday

Review

'A fascinating mine of information ... this is essential reading.' The Independent 'An intriguing and highly detailed account of circadian rhythms.' Observer 'Foster is a pioneer who takes readers on a captivating journey ... it is time that the profound knowledge of clock research reaches everyone in society; this book does an excellent job in this campaign' Nature 'Humans, like all other living creatures, live in and by time, but increasingly in our 24/7 society the deep evolutionarily conserved rhythms on which our lives have depended have become disturbed by a digitized clockwise form of time. In this accessible and richly informed book Russell Foster and Leon Kreitzman explore the meaning, significance and mechanism of these ancient biological clocks in our own day-to day lives and those too of other life forms on earth.' Professor Steven Rose --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

I bought this book after hearing a lecture by Russell Foster. He is one of the most engaging, eloquent speakers in person, and this is reflected by his precise, understandable prose in this book.
Occasionally, the book strays into more technical areas, but the authors anchor these passages to questions more pertinent to everyday life. The authors guide the reader through passages unveiling their work on the visual pathways in the brain, and studies related to the circadian rhythms on which we all subconsciously rely.

Format:Paperback
Item arrived within estimated delivery range. Packaging was protective and thus the book arrived in pristine condition.

The book itself has provided an excellent foundation for a third year (university) module I am due to take soon. Biological clocks are described and explained first simply and then in depth, with a subtle repetition throughout which aids understanding and recollection.

A fascinating book about the last few decades of chronobiological research. Well written and comprehensive. Are you an "early bird" or a "night owl"? Do you want to know how to deal with jet lag and winter blues? How to improve your sleep without taking medicine? What about a nap during the day? Are you interested in biological rhythms from a scientific or professional point of view? Then you have to read this book immediately. It contains nearly everything you always wanted to know about biological rhythms but were afraid to ask. It's a must-read for medical professionals, psychologists, teachers, trainers, consultants of all kind and everyone, who has a problem with time.
