If Ilya's (San Ilya here in the states) "They Died For Beauty" was to your liking, they you will certainly want to have this. This EP features "Quattre Neon" and three non-lp tracks, "Philadelphia and Blue", "Rehab Massiah", and "Asleep at the Wheel". After hearing these tracks, one cannot help but wonder why they were left out of the "They Died For Beauty" album. These songs are just as beautifully crafted as any of the songs found on their albums, so if you are a fan you will definitely want to add this cd to your collection if you have never heard of Ilya (San Ilya) this is a great place to start. It is really tough to describe their sound in a nutshell, but it is something like retro-opera-psychedelic-rock-jazz. I know that sounds like something hard for the ear to digest, but Ilya somehow makes it so easy and pleasant to take in.
Also be sure to check out Ilya's other albums "Somerset", an amazing follow up to "They Died For Beauty", and "Carving Heads on Cherry Stones", their latest release.
