5.0 out of 5 stars it's brilliant.. 18 July 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Yep,it's brilliant..,again !
Smashing characters and fascinating story, nothing has been left out.
I was hoping, near the end of the book, that it would say 'to be continued'.....,sadly not..,boo hoo.
I love graphic novels and this was an amazing find, good old Ben Hatke.(and family)
Be wary of having 4 daughters though,'cos it seems you may be forced to create a graphic novel series.
Still,if it was good enough for the mighty Egyptians..,it's good enough for little ol' me,I love 'em !
I must admit to being a little disturbed at one point when Zita appeared to be beaten down after working in the mines.
But hey, that was just a trick from a genius writer to pull the wool over our eyes before.....,POW !
Zita was back to her feisty self again, saving this, that and the others too...,.marvelous stuff,I want more..
and when do I want it....,Yes,NOW !!
I'm pleased that Joseph got to join in the adventure,we thought he was..,er...,gone.
But NO ! The 'deception' (blech !) was a master stroke that had me fooled,I can tell you.It was soo genuine.
Piper and Madrigal getting back together, who would have thought ?
I also like the spark of recognition of the Leviathan when Zita pulled off one of it's power cords...,nice touch..,ahem.
I liked the whole book !
But there were some 11/10 moments, that's all.
Zita being yanked over by her chains and noticing the Ghost.
Oh..,and the charges......a pattern emerges...,fantastic.
Oh..oh..,and the amazing Floof gun..,Oh Come On !!
I could easily go on.....and on..,but to save me the trouble.....,please read the novel.
This volume also contains the very entertaining origins of Zita, the crime....,ah,no..,the Space girl ! (with costume)
Which reminds me..,the evolution of Femur and Raggy.Hoo boy,has this book got the lot or what ?!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favourite So Far 12 Nov 2014
Format:Paperback
Excellent. All the characters from the first two books return in this book that brings elements from the previous stories together into a new book that has Zita saving the planet Earth. While all three books can be read as stand-alones, this one does a fine job of tying the books together and creating a trilogy with a plot that increases and culminates in this book. However we are not left at the end here and the last few pages set the stage for more Zita adventures. The creativity and imagination of the world and creatures found in these books, and just as much a charm this third time round, is phenomenal. If you liked the first two books you'll love this one. Zita has become one of favourite comic heroines.

3.0 out of 5 stars As good as the other Zita books 4 April 2014
By Sonja - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Okay, so I own the other two Zita books, and while I like them, I don't love them. But my daughters like them, and they feature a female main character, and I might as well continue on now that I'm two books in already. Speaking of continuing on, the blurb for the book describes this one as "the third and final installment." I find that hard to believe because at the end, it clearly sets up the possibility of more books in the series.

I'm not sure I agree with another reviewer that this book is appropriate for all ages. There's certainly violence, and perhaps more concerning, the book mostly takes place in a slave camp and one of the child characters has been sold numerous times in the slave trade. I haven't read this one with my girls yet (ages 7 and 8) because I need to think how to address these issues.

As I wrote at the top, it's as good as the other books in the series, so if you love those, you'll probably love this one too. Pretty much all the (good guy) characters from the previous books show up in this one, so in that sense it does have a "wrapping it all up" feel to it. It was a solid read, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants more Zita.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything You Want in this Disarming Sequel 29 Mar 2014
By Janet Perry - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
You'll find all the perfect elements in this sequel -- our heroine in trouble, dastardly villains, friends from the other books returning, and even a surprise. And like many good sequels it introduces some great new characters and has lots of action.

While all the elements of a great sequel are here, Hatke puts the together so delightfully that the book is a very worthy end to the trilogy.

The set-up is simple, Zita, a wanted criminal, has been captured and taken to a prison planet. The book opens with her trial and sentencing. The action of the book centers around her attempts to escape and her desire to save others caught there as she does. It's a simple plot but one that is ripe for Hatke's strengths -- those wonderfully inventive aliens and his great drawn sound effects. Much as I love Zita herself, it's this stuff that is so refreshing in these books. Even the fight scenes are rendered with charm.

Lovers of Zita will also be happy to see, at the end, an explanation of her origins.

And, as always in these books, there are visual 'outtakes' at the end, sketches of aliens, monsters, and unused vignettes from the book. They are some of my favorite features because they really show off the creative energy of Hatke's imagination.

I'm looking forward to what he will do next.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 3rd Grader Loves This Series 17 Jun 2014
By Karen Joan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
THE RETURN OF ZITA THE SPACE GIRL is the eagerly anticipated last book in this 3 part, graphic novel series. When I saw this book on Amazon, I grabbed it up immediately. My 9 year old just loves the Zita the Space Girl series. When it arrived at our house, I was instantly crowned THE BEST MOM EVER!!!

My wee one ran right off to read it. Now anytime my daughter sits down and reads a book straight through, it must be a good book. And this one has all of the elements she loves: science fiction, adventure, creatures, good verse evil, and of course, a female heroine. In her own words, "I loved this series because it is epic! Zita is just like me; she is a girl stuck in a different world. I feel like that sometimes. This book is funny and full of adventure, and I love all the different creatures that we get to meet. Zita is just so awesome. I read THE RETURN OF ZITA THE SPACE GIRL really fast, all at one time. I was sad when I was done. I hope the author writes more."

So there you have it. THE RETURN OF ZITA THE SPACE GIRL is a huge hit in our house!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yeah! Zita is back! 28 Mar 2014
By Ana Braga-Henebry - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Zita is back! Zita is back! That was the feeling in this house when the book arrived, and we were fighting to see who would read it first. The 13 year old won, but that's because her brother is away at college, as he, our Classic languages major, is probably Zita's biggest fan. Author Ben Hatke is a master at sequels, not missing a bit in the rhythm of Zita's space adventures. Zita is at once courageous and human, brave but has has moments of discouragement. She needs, like all of us, some inspiring encouraging at times. But her kind, lovely spirit wins her readers' hearts every time! Even if her adventures take place in an imaginative world, she is a real hero for all of her readers! Of course Hatke's art is the driving force behind these successful comic books: his colors, sets, and fantastic character-drawing skills keep us going back to the Zita books again and again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Frenetic Fun Continues in the Best of the Series So Far 23 Mar 2014
By Matt Hausig - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This is the third installment in what looks to be a continuing Zita the Spacegirl series and its the best one yet. The last two volumes are at or close to the top of the list of my kid's favorite books. This one was a "drop everything and read it right now" book. It more than lives up to its expectations. Starting off with Zita imprisoned on the Dungeon Planet the stakes keep climbing as Zita's position gets worse and worse. Thankfully for Zita, she has made many friends over the course of the series and they all come to her rescue. The artwork continues to be excellent, both in rendering the personalities of the many characters and portraying the many action scenes. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who's read the first two books, this one is a must have.
