The Shadows Reborn. 28 Oct 2007
By M. Overberg - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This is easily one of the greatest British Instrumental and Beat Stomping bands ever. The tone is there, the echo is there, the shadows are there. The Rapiers originals are sometimes better than the Shadows. Quite simply these guys tapped into the early 60s sound of British Music pre fab four. They nailed it and this is great. Formiddable players. Colin Pryce Jones is Gear: so is the rest of the band for that matter. If you love the Shadows and haven't hear this,,shame on you. They run rings around any band emulating the shadows today.
Rapiers Are Go! 2 July 2008
By Greg O. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Listen to "Surf Guitar 71", he's right on regarding The Rapiers. For them, it's still 1961 and The Shadows Rule. The standout track on "Return of The Rapiers" is easily the title track, an original instrumental that gallops along at a frightening pace. Close behind is the majestic "Breakfast at the Ace", a tribute to North London's famous motorbike cafe. Then there's the band's revival of Simon Scott's brash 1964 out-of-time "Move It Baby", a certifiable dance floor filler. This ain't no tribute band, it's the only sound these guys know.
