The wheelchair bound Robert T. Ironside. Raymond Burr is reunited with stars of the original series: Don Galloway, Barbara Anderson, Elizabeth Baur and Don Mitchell. Ironside is about to retire as head of the San-Francisco Police Department to finally fulfill his dream - running his own vineyard. However when Ed Brown, his former chief aid, now Deputy Chief, asks him to take over the Denver Police Department because of the murder of the former Chief of Police, Ironside agrees to do so.

Ironside does so but with condition that it will only be temporary. But things are further complicated when Suzanne Dwyer the daughter of his old friend and colleague, Eve Whitfield is the prime suspect in the murder of her boyfriend, Mike Quinn, whom she suspected was seeing someone else. Though Ironside refuses to believe that Suzanne is guilty; the evidence is all against her. So, Ironside's other old friends, Mark Sanger and Fran Belding come to Denver to help. Some 18 years since the final episode of the television series was aired, the original cast is reunited for a one-off TV movie.
Ironside is on the point of retiring as head of the San Francisco Police Department, when he is asked by his former chief aid, Ed Brown, to stay on for one last case. Coming to his assistance are officers Eve Whitfield, Fran Belding, Judge Mark Sanger and, of course, Ed Brown, now Deputy Chief.
Raymond Burr was by now seriously ill and it shows. Not surprisingly, he looks tired, and indeed the rest of the original cast look older and a little strained. It must have been difficult for them all, given that Burr did not have much longer to live ( he died in the same year on 12 September 1993 ).
Raymond Burr was a marvellous actor and a fine man, and if I was to give way to sentimentality, I would give 'The Return of Ironside' 5 stars. But it is really just an average TV movie in spite of its nostalgic appeal. Still a must for fans of 'Ironside' and Raymond Burr, and Dana Wynter finally got the chance to play Ironside's wife.

very good dvd,first class episode of ironside,it was good to see all the original cast back for one last time.it kept me guessing till the end.

It was with relish and great delight that I sat down with my family to watch this movie based on the TV series "Ironside". I bought this because I am a big fan of Raymond Burr who graced our screens majestically as Perry Mason and Robert T Ironside. In tribute to him, on hearing that this was his last work before his death in 1993, I wanted to watch this. Of course there was the added bonus of a reunion. The entire original cast of Ironside returned; Chief Ironside (Raymond Burr), Ed Brown(Don Galloway), Mark Singer(Don Mitchell), Eve Whitfield (Barbara Anderson) were all older and shall I say wiser in the art of catching bad guys and doing what they do best - solving a difficult case. The storyline was not spectacular but it was entertaining and engaging. I really enjoyed it. I liked the fact that they kept the storyline, simple and believable like the TV series, with an even tempo and rhythm. I recommend.

being a fan for years I had to have this along with my others all older but aren't we all, if you are a Raymond Burr fan be it Perry Mason or Ironside you must have this. ENJOY

Wanting to see this again
Raymond Burr is an actor worth watching repeatedly and I am glad to find these dvds are available in this country. It is an irresistible purchase.
