Product Description

Life is frustrating sometimes. It can be hard and ugly. Hurt, frustration and regret can make everything seem hopeless. But, God has a plan for everything in our lives. He offers unconditional love and grace, despite our imperfections. He offers hope where we see only despair.

Discover the repurposed and upcycled life. This is a life where no experience is wasted. Like the best trash–to–treasure decorating project, it's a life where God repurposes our junky experiences. It's where he upcycles—turns hopeless situations into something so much better than we ever imagined—when we let him work with the trash. When we surrender to his leading, God demonstrates his creativity in revealing how our greatest disappointments, mistakes, and painful experiences can be priceless treasures.

Through humor and stories, Michelle Rayburn addresses how to unpack emotional baggage and let go of the past. Readers will learn how to confront perfectionism and negative attitudes, change perspective on circumstances, and let go of regret and shame. It's an opportunity to learn how to build positive healthy relationships, and dream big and live with purpose. Through inspiration from God's Word and examples from everyday life, readers will discover the joy–filled, hope–rich way of viewing their past, present, and future.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book has it all... 24 Feb. 2013
By Kristy
Format:Paperback
The Repurposed and Upcycled Life is a novel, comedy, autobiography and devotional all in one! Many times I caught myself laughing out loud at the stories in this book. It was such an easy read; I found it hard to put down!

The chapters start off as short stories about Michelle's experiences in life (most of them humorous [even the chapter names had me crying with laughter!] and easily relatable to the average woman) and move on to the way God has used these stories to influence her life and now mine! At the end of each chapter there is a reflection section focusing on Faith, Creativity and Everyday Life, which I also found meaningful, encouraging and easily applicable to me.

This is a book you would not have to read from cover to cover, but pick a chapter that pertains to your life and start from there! Definitely recommended for women of any age!

God bless Michelle Rayburn and her family. I look forward to reading her second book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome encouragement to believe that God can redeem the "trash" in our life 20 Jun. 2014
By Albin J. Stanish - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
[Mrs. Stanish posting] This is such an awesome book. You'll laugh (out loud!) and cry (keep some tissue handy) and you will be so amazed and inspired at how God can take what we think is a hopeless mess and turn it into a treasure that glorifies Him. Buy this for every woman in your life who has ever questioned her worth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Written, Engaging, and Practical 6 Sept. 2014
By Delores Liesner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
We've all taken a garment out of the closet that looks fine—until we put it on. Then the color makes us look sallow, the waistband is too tight or too loose or it or it just isn’t us anymore? We should toss it, yet we put it back on the shelf to play the same scene over and over.

Humor is the spoon Michelle Rayburn uses to dish out funny, inspirational and applicable personal stories that inspire us to clean our spiritual and emotional houses, give up the guilt, and to embrace the positive aspects of our current lives. Her experienced guidance helps to examine 11 negative types of baggage, to peel away the trash and look for the treasure in every area– all those things we kid ourselves into thinking no one else knows about.

Emotional garbage, guilt and bitterness out – healing and changed attitudes and perspectives in. Each chapter is short enough to finish in a 10-15 minute devotional time, but has enough depth to keep you pondering – and asking yourself if this (action, habit, emotion, reaction) will build up your life – or not. If not, Rayburn empowers the reader to “carry out the trash,” and keep only what builds you up so you can turn and build up others.

Well written, engaging and practical, this little book is a treasure you will want to glean from time and again
5.0 out of 5 stars Write your own story after reading this and live a better life for yourself and those who loves you! 4 Aug. 2014
By Noelle the Dreamer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
One quick look into Michelle Rayburn's book and you find yourself wondering where this friend has been all those years!
There are no other words to describe the warm feeling you get as you discover her witty and very refreshing writing, she comes through clearly as the sort of woman each of us would like to call Friend!

Michelle's jocular approach to sharing personal experiences and the resulting wisdom gives you the opportunity to see the extra emotional baggage we each carry. If we are honest and we must be as she was with herself, there are many areas in our lives we could improve upon. Unlike other testimonies and devotionals The Repurposed and Upcycled Life is filled with the joys of discovering what treasures we can become in the eyes of God.

Women especially appreciate the need to feel special and in order to do it, we must learn to accept ourselves, deal with past mistakes, change our perspective on those circumstances we cannot change and let go of regrets. Ah, regrets...Not an easy one!
But best of all, Michelle's arguments will help each of us to build stronger relationships, dream big and live with purpose!

With hilarious chapters titles such as 'Dust bunnies and bad hare hair days' and 'Chicken Coop for the Soul' Michelle's brand of humour leaves us with a comforting dose of care and support.
This is one book every woman should read if we are to retain our sanity in this often crazy world and learn to love ourselves as God loves us!
Following each chapter, a segment about Faith, Creativity, Everyday Life reveals God's unexpected gifts, all part of the many lessons you will learn here.

When you close the last page you will have acquired the incentive to write your own story and live a better life for yourself and those who loves you!

A book to buy, beg for or borrow Ladies!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A life-changing read! 29 Aug. 2014

“What if we were real: What if we were as honest about our failures as we are about our successes?” (p. 2)

Michelle Rayburn explores this question from every possible angle throughout her book, The Repurposed & Upcycled Life. She walks the reader through a myriad of situations, some from personal experience, some from the experience of others. Michelle takes the Scripture and teaches transforming truths about successfully navigating life in a fallen world. She uses her unique talent of repurposing “junk” and applies the practical truths of the Bible to each step of a transformational journey. She wants everyone to walk in the freedom and purpose of God’s plan for their lives, and her book equips folks to do this!

Each chapter packed with things you will want to remember, so please read with your highlighter at the ready! At the end of the chapter Michelle offers a section called Getting Personal. Here you will find a section entitled Faith where she asks purpose-filled questions of self-examination. She follows this with a section entitled Creativity where she offers ideas of creative activities that give your situation a concrete re-purposing. The last section is entitled Everyday Life gives practical ways to put what you’ve learned into action.

This is a book that will bring healing and hope to many people in a variety of situations. Don’t rush through this. Take time to absorb what God has for you in these pages. This book has been a love note from God in my life!! How I praise Him for Michelle Rayburn’s ministry!
5.0 out of 5 stars The One Book You Need to Read This Year. 1 Aug. 2014
By Sandra K. Stiles - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The title of this came at just the right time. We were going through things in our house to see what we could get rid of and what we could recycle or repurpose. This book does the same thing with events in our life. The whole gist of this is that when you look at your life and things you are holding onto you need to ask yourself if you need to continue to hold on to it. Is it important? Chances are it is not. Can you use it to change things in your life to improve things? I have always seen myself as a fairly positive person. However, there are areas in my life that when I bring them back up, turn into something very negative. I had to ask myself if it was doing good or harm in my life? I had to give myself permission to let go of it. It definitely was not something God wanted me to hold on to. It is like holding on to a grudge. God has so much more for us. This book is full of ways to help you do just that. If there is one book you need to read this year it is this book. I will recommend it to all of my readers and my family and friends. I need to understand that sometimes sharing the way God has helped me with something I've always seen as trash in my life can often be a form of treasure for others. We don't know how sharing will often help someone else who is or has gone through the same thing. They feel alone and need to see that God can take any trash in our life and turn it into treasure.

I received a copy of this book to help facilitate my review. I received no compensation. The opinions are my own.
