Five sacred stones give a few of them mystical powers, but not the power to understand a long-destined event called the Remembering.
In the aftermath of the nuclear bombing of Japan in 1945, Zianno Zezen finds himself alone, while the fate of the other Meq and his beloved Opari, carrier of the Stone of Blood, is unknown. But Z’s archenemy, the Fleur-du-Mal, survives. In the next half century Z will reunite with far-flung friends both Meq and human, as American and Soviet spies vie to steal and harness the powers and mysteries of the timeless children. With the day of the Remembering rapidly approaching, Z must interpret the strange writing on an ancient etched stone sphere. In those markings, Z will discover messages within messages and begin a journey to the truth about his people and himself.

I started reading 'The MEQ' in year 9. It had me utterly entranced and enthralled! I waited YEARS to find 'Time Dancers'. Since I live in Western Australia, the book companies don't get round to ordering books except from the major award winners and popular choices so by the time someone ordered 'Time dancers' in I was just out of school. I bought it for nostalgia, thinking that perhaps it wouldn't hold the same magic that the first reading (all those years ago). I was utterly wrong, I enjoyed 'Time Dancers' just as much if not more. Sadly it ended on a MASSIVE cliff hanger! I was devastated because I knew how long it would take for the next installment.
Then FINALLY 'the Remembering' appeared! I am now in my last years in uni (thank GOD for Amazon or I would have probably waited another 2 years or so for it to appear in WA)and I have to say that this final installment still had me as enthralled as it did when I was at the beginning the of this journey with Steve Cash.
It has been an absolute pleasure to get myself lost in Z's tale once more and the ending is as good as it gets while still have to say goodbye to this story. A story which began in my year 9.

brilliant metaphysical epic fantasy

The Meq are an immortal human-like race who stops maturing at twelve years old. They possess many extraordinary skills such as immunity to disease and psychic abilities like mind control, telepathy and teleportation. None of them know why they differ from their human neighbors but every Meq hopes that the predicted Remembering comes soon though no one know what this event truly is.
Born in 1869, Zianno "Z" Zezen was in Nagasaki with his bitter enemy the Fleur du Mal assassin Xanti Otso when the bomb destroyed the city; he is shocked with the carnage of one bomb. He was also in Dallas though in the wrong place to prevent the assassination of JFK. A black ops group led by Blaine Harrington knows of the Meq and like their Soviet counterpart wants to use them as assault weapons. The Meq is fortunate that they have excellent intel and Jack Flowers protecting them from abduction. Z and his Meq mates work with Fleur du Mal trying to decipher arcane writings on an ancient sphere that they pray will tell them the location of the Remembering.
The final Meq thriller (see The Meq and Time Dancers) is a fabulous finish to a brilliant metaphysical epic fantasy. The Meqs have humans they trust to keep them safe even though some like Fleur du mal have lived for millennia and witnessed much of the human historical chronicle. The race hides in plain sight knowing with few exceptions the overwhelmingly superior in numbers humans would use them for malignant purposes. Fans will enjoy the escapades of Z and company as they seek The Remembering.
