A great read 12 Feb 2011
By Tilly
Format:Paperback
This is a thriller with a number of different strands;
- a gripping story with action between London, Amsterdam and New York
- an insight into the 21st century art world
- careful historical research into the 17th century artist's life.
This combination of art history and an imaginative story results in a remarkable, memorable book.

Excellent read 23 July 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
What a rattling good tale. I was totally captivated by the end of chapter 3, after which I just could not put it down. I would highly recommend it as good anytime reading, but for a long train or plane journey, it would pass the hours in a flash. Historical murder, betrayal & mayhem reflected in present day same, a mind-twisting plot & an unexpected tweak in the final denouement. I'll read it again soon.

This is one of the cleverest thrillers I've read in a long time. The characters are all sharply drawn, and brought to life. They felt very real. There are so many twists and turns - just when you think you might have figured it all out... there is another twist. Kept me on the edge till the end. Well researched and put together. A novel which makes you think, but an author with such a clever mind, that the best you can do is guess! A wonderful insight into the art world as well. I was left feeling quite bereft by the end, wondering which book I could read that could possibly come close. Highly recommended.
