A simple explanation of this video would be: 37 of the best plays, 90 minutes of hilarious performance and 3 of the most talented actors, but it is so much more than that. The RSC (that's the Reduced Shakespeare Company) attempted to do what no other theatre group has ever contemplated doing, William Shakespeare’s entire works in one performance – and not only did they achieve this bold ambition, but they did it with flair, flamboyance and it was just amazingly funny.
The show contains comedy of many varieties, appealing to everybody – song, dance and slapstick; it’s intellectually stimulating and a barrel of laughs. Those of us who suffered at school with endless recitals of Shakespeare’s sonnets need not fear this modern take on the playwright – it is far from the painful boredom you may have endured previously and Shakespeare’s true genius is identified in this refreshing yet bizarre interpretation.
This video is perfect for those who were unfortunate to miss the theatre production, but for the lucky people who did see it – I assure you it is just as exciting and enjoyable as the live version.
“Where there’s a Will, there’s a play.”
