If you are a big chili pepper fan and play the bass guitar, then this book is ESSENTIAL!!! Blood, Sugar, Sex Magik, is one of the best albums the chilis have made, and with the help of this book you can play along to the classic funk styling of "Give It Away" and the melodic "Under The Bridge" as well as all other 16 brilliant tracks.
As Michael "Flea" Balzary is one of the best bassists around, the songs transcribed in this book are very difficult to pick up, especially for people new to the bass. The solo to "Naked In The Rain" is extremely difficult and, at first, doesn't sound right. But if you practice till your fingers bleed, then it sounds just like the legend himself!!!
In short, this book is a must for anybody who appreciates great music and wants to sound just like Flea.

A Great but not perfect guide through the songs on the album

Well, first of all you can't go wrong buying a Hal Leonard book of transcriptions for the most part. Having said that, you also have to expect some mistakes in ANY book of transcriptions. I've only worked out "If You Have To Ask" so far and there are mistakes. One note in the chorus patterns that isn't there in the song, a whole four bar section of the bridge left out entirely, and although I read music and don't follow TAB, a big mistake in the first chorus in the TAB, probably due to the fact that your E string is drop tuned to D, which they do tell you in the book, but the mistake in the TAB is that the lick is written as if you weren't drop tuned. Now I don't go nuts and trash these books because they are MOSTLY correct and they do cut my time down to about half of what it would take me to figure out these songs on my own, and if you have a decent ear and know the songs you can correct the mistakes as you hear them and figure out the parts that are missing when that happens too. I also have the Stadium Arcadium book, and it's the same deal. I consider the books a great value for what you get. A mostly note for note guide through the songs, along with a few (minor in my opinion) mistakes here and there. Peace. And remember, if you've got funk, you've got style!

This book is great for anyone who wants to learn how to play like Flea on Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Highly reccomended
