Generally speaking this is a good dvd. It covers much of Richoffen's early career well and has an excellent review of the circunstances of his death. However, one or two issues seriously undermine it. Firstly the incidental music is extremely intrusive in parts - so much so that it is difficult to hear the voice over! But it is the second fault which is by far the most annoying factor. The film would seem to have been originally made in German and the English commentary dubbed over. Nothing wrong with that in itself, but the standard of the translation is in my opinion dreadful! The grammar and general use of English is fine, but this translation has obviously been done by someone who knows nothing about aviation history of the period - nor would it seem to have been passed by such a person for comment. Whilst "Fokker tri-decker" maybe an accurate literal translation of the German, it is definitely not common English usage for this aircraft. This on its own is a small point, but as you might imagine the phrase crops up a lot, and its far from being the only example of such clumsy translation.
A great pity, it ruins an otherwise interesting documentary.
