Book Description

3 Aug 2012
Are you tired of the guilt, shame and pain of addiction? Are you sick of the constant relapses? Do you yearn for happiness, freedom and a better life?

People can spend years trapped in addiction unnecessarily, because, despite all their efforts, they just don't understand what you really need to do to recover.

Despite attending rehab, counselling, groups and fellowships, many addicts remain stuck in the cycle of addiction, because they are not told some very basic facts about recovery. For some reason, many of the facts about successful recovery have remained a secret - until now.

Beth Burgess has written THE book on addiction recovery, having struggled as a serial relapser and become frustrated about having to learn by trial and error. She saw too many people around her doing the same thing, and set out to write a book which shared the secrets of addiction recovery, that most addicts take a long and painful time to learn.

After studying what successful addicts were doing to get better, and looking at the lessons she learnt from her own journey, Beth decided to share what really works and what doesn't when it comes to getting clean and sober.

The Recovery Formula is an essential guide for anyone who is addicted to alcohol or drugs and wants to do something about it. The book will help you to understand your problem, to make decisions about treatment, to avoid relapse and to set yourself up for success from the start. The Recovery Formula is a framework that anyone can use to achieve a happy and successful sobriety.

Receiving high praise from addicts and addiction professionals alike, this is THE book to have if you want to get clean and sober forever.

Your recovery starts here.

5.0 out of 5 stars This was written about me 14 Dec 2012
Format:Paperback
This is only the second book I have ever read that truly made me identify with the person writing it. One was a memoir about addiction, and the other was this one - a guide to getting sober, with some of the writer's story neatly woven in. It made me laugh, it made me cry, but so did the memoir. What this book did differently was make me understand how to get better.

I have been so wrapped up in trying, and failing, to control my drink and drug use, that I never thought it could be any other way. I now have living proof that someone who was as bad as me (sorry, Beth, but I'm sure you know what I mean) has beaten this after the same struggles as I have had. I am taking your guidelines very seriously indeed and have finally decided to ask for more help from people who have been there. Thank you for writing a book about me, for me, and for all those who have suffered in the way way as us. God bless.

Absolutely brilliant book - written for addicts by an addict who has conquered her alcohol addiction, and wants to help you to do the same with your addictions. Bought this after reading the self-esteem help book by the same author, so did have some expectation of this one being good too. If you only buy one book to help you win your battle with sobriety - this is the one to choose. Beth Burgess obviously had a long hard battle herself, and some dramatic relapses which she shares, but she also helps you understand what addiction really is, inspires you to face up to your deceits (no, really, I only had one drink) and shows you how to get and stay sober. What more can I say? Just buy it and get yourself a sober and happy life!

5.0 out of 5 stars My sobriety bible 9 Nov 2012
Format:Paperback
I am in awe of The Recovery Formula... this book is genius. There was so much covered when I was only 35 pages in! I have been inspired to WANT to be sober, and that in it self is amazing! With these tools I know I will truly succeed in life in sobriety. I truly feel free of doubt. Sobriety is number 1. I know that all in all, it is me who takes these steps. Beth's writing was so authentic, and so well written, honestly I read the book in one day, it is now my bible :) I related to every aspect of the addict she writes of, and in some ways that is comforting to know I wasn't the only distorted person out there! I do keep in mind, that that wasn't really who I am. In the Recovery Formula you are given the truth, you are getting hope that anyone can be sober and live a fully authentic amazing life. Especially the ones like myself that have had enough with all the screw ups. Its time to live and its time to read this book because the time is now and being sober is AWESOME.
