About the Author

I enjoyed the first two books in the trilogy. The characters were well drawn and the action well described. For the most part I really enjoyed the last book. It included the same depth of character for 4/5ths of the book. And then the end arrives. The author set up a series of issues in the trilogy, none of these are addressed. The ending is given as an epilogue which does nothing to resolve the problems raised in the novel. It honestly felt like someone had cut the last fifth of the novel out. So discordent was it that I checked the page numbers to make sure there were no pages that were missing. Sadly not! I cannot tell you how frustrating I find this kind of resolution. It feels like the author couldn't actually solve any of the problems and so just slapped a generic ending on at the end to get the book finished. For instance in the first book all the images of Alberon were removed from the palace, all his possessions burned. So how does he react to this destruction of his public character, how does his father reconcile his previous behaviour to the people, how does Alberon win back public support? No idea. This is just one issue raised which is left completely unaddressed. Read this book if you want to learn a bit more about Christopher's people but don't expect the ending to answer any of your questions.

The third part in Celine's Moorehawke Trilogy and one that will leave the reader in not doubt that she plays for keeps as everything is to play for with some pretty good twists. Back that up with some seriously good dialogue, the pace is working well and to be honest it was a title that we really enjoyed. Add a number of great characters, some solid world building and finish it off with a descriptive style that doesn't waste words and the reader will be more than satisfied.
Finally with an author who has learned so much over the course of a series, Celine has set herself up well for a future in the genre. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with and wish her every success.

Bought this book just to find out what happened to the characters in the first 2 books and hoped it would explain some things - eg why the King's personality had changed. To a certain extent this was done towards the end of the book, but by that time, I couldn't have cared if the whole lot of them had been massacred.
The whole series could probably have been tied up in 1 or 2 books. The first book, which was good, promised a lot more than was eventually delivered. All in all, I found the story to be fairly boring and I won't be rushing to buy any other books by this author.
