I'm only giving the book three stars at the moment, as I haven't completed the whole programme.
The book is very informative about the different food groups, vitamins etc. ... but I'm not sure if it's for everyone, including me.
The main thrust of the book is eating a balanced diet - which helps the body's metabolism regulate weight more effectively.
The diet part comes in three stages - each lasting four weeks. Stage one is an exclusion diet, so cutting out wheat, dairy, caffeine, alcohol, which gives the body a detox. There are daily recipes to follow during each stage that give you a balanced and varied diet, including suggestions for vegetarians and vegans. According to the the author, you should be able to shed between one and three pounds in weight during this initial phase. The next two stages gradually re-introduce prohibited foods, and you keep a check on whether or not you get a reaction to the new food group.
I'm on week three of the first stage. So far I've lost three pounds. Not amazing, considering I have another two stone to loose, but gradual is better than too fast, when your weight tends to pile on again as soon as you start eating normally.
My one grouse with the book is that there are no portion sizes given in the recipes - so you are on trust not to give yourself a huge portion of anything.
So maybe I will review this book again once I have completed all four stages and seen how much weight I have actually lost and how much better I feel in myself over the course of twelve weeks.
