The Real Ghostbusters was based on the motion picture Ghostbusters which starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd & Harold Ramis. The film turned out to be a major hit with adults and children alike and so a cartoon of the film was released on T.V.
The stories and situations of the four Ghostbusters, Egon, Ray, Peter & Winston varied from different episodes and was shown in 1986.
In the first episode, Adventures in Slime & Space, Egon's newest invention is a ghost net which supposedly disintegrates ghosts, instead of them having to stored in the Containment Unit. But when their pet ghost Slimer passes through the machine, it splits him into thousands of little Slimers!
In Ghost Busted, the Ghostbusters have practically zapped every ghost left in New York so they turn to catching criminals. Everything's going smoothly for them until their secretary Janine is kidnapped by the ruthless and dangerous Crimelord and once again the Ghostbusters are in trouble!
In Knock, Knock, subway workmen come across a door whilst digging a new tunnel marked "Do Not Open Until Doomsday" and unwittingly let loose a nasty bunch of ghosts, ghouls and goblins who creates havoc all throughout the system. The Ghostbusters are called in to deal with the problem and rid New York's busiest subway system of these creatures. Will they ever come out alive?
In Venkman's Ghost Repellers, ships start going missing in the New Jersey Parallelogram, the Real Ghostbusters; Ray, Egon, Peter & Winston are called in to deal with the problem.

I got this and the "sea fright" volume of the Real Ghostbusters DVDs while suffering a bit of nostalgic moment. I was totally obsessed with everything Ghostbusters back in the day so was keen to see how it had held up.
Alas, while the intro animation & music is still ace, the storylines still inventive, the main story animation has not aged well. As an adult I am now used to a much higher quality of animation that this cartoon just isn't up to and so is a bit distracting. Also, the story choices on both volumes aren't the best. Two episodes on this volume don't even involve any actual ghostbusting.
