The description of this video (originally released in 1995) leads you to believe it covers a wide area of Cornwall, from the East to the far West: "From Pencarrow, with its Georgian country house and world famous garden, to modern art in the Tate Gallery at St. Ives...... this film will give you a COMPLETE (my capitals) guide to a unique county." The first 40 minutes of the film are based entirely in East Cornwall - Charlestown, Fowey etc. - and only in the the last 14 minutes does it move West to St Ives and briefly onto surfing and then a chat with a farmer. It fails to cover Truro, the Helford Passage,Falmouth, the Lizard peninsula,Helston,St Michaels Mount,Penzance, the Minack Theatre,Land's End, Sennen Cove etc. as well as Tintagel, Boscastle, Camelford, Bude, Port Isaac - and many more places that should have merited a mention.
If the description had been accurate rather than misleading and I had known that I would basically be purchasing an East Cornwall travelogue, then I would have certainly increased the star rating to 3 stars - possibly 4 - as some of it was quite interesting. But to describe the film as a 'complete guide' is nonsense!
