4.0 out of 5 stars Delicious recipes! 18 Sep 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a great book. Nearly every recipe has a beautiful photograph of the finish dish and it all looks mouthwateringly delicious! There are 3 options to choose from - a weekend, a week or a lifetime on raw food. I have struggled to maintain a raw food lifestyle and saw that this could be a way in - with the option to begin with one weekend, it is really encouraging.

The book has been set up as a 'diet' programme. I didn't feel that this really came across as a diet book, more that it is a great raw food book which has had a 'diet and lose weight' slant put on it. On the one hand the book talks about not needing to count calories - and then provides a basic nutritional breakdown (eg calories, fat, sugar content) for each recipe. I didn't buy the book to lose weight (although I do want to), so I haven't focused on this aspect of it.

The recipes are tasty and simple enough for a raw food beginner to make. There are some recipes which involve dehydration, but they suggest that you can use your oven on the lowest setting with the door open if you don't have a dehydrator. As I have a dehydrator, I haven't tried this method, so don't know how well it works.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Raw Food Diet 3 May 2013

This is a great book, the recipes are delicious. I followed the week plan as a project for my nutrition course. The food was great I didn't feel hungry or had any cravings. Downside of the plan is that if you follow it exactly you will end up with lots of leftovers as some of the recipes make more than is needed for the week. The ingredients for the week were also expensive double my usual shopping bill due to large amounts of nuts, seeds and some more specialist ingredients. You also need a dehydrator ( a low oven is recommended as a replacement), high speed blender and food processor. Saying that I would recommend this book for anyone interested in raw food. Most of the books on the market come from the USA so it is nice to have a UK book that doesn't require using ingredients that are near to impossible to find. The raw pizza is a real winner even with kids. Granola, mushrooms stuffed with tapenade and the quiche were all stunning.

Whilst well set out and easy to use I feel book could be easily condensed as many similar recipes presented..
